    1Why is Janumet prescribed?

    Janumet, a combination of two drugs i.e metformin and Sitagliptin that sold in the market under various trade names. It is a prescription drug that helps to maintain the sugar level of blood in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is recommended to use a proper diet and exercise as advised by your physician. 

    2How to use it?

    It is highly recommended to take this combination of drugs after a meal. It is advised to take a single tablet daily. Swallow the drug as a whole and don't chew, crush or break the tablet. It is beneficial to take the dose each day at the same time. 

    3What if I miss a dose or overdose?

    Try to avoid any single dose of any antidiabetic medication as it may disturb the blood sugar level of your body. Consult your physician if you missed any dose. Don't take both the doses at a same time to recover the missed dose. 

    If you take higher doses than the prescribed dose then it leads to overdose that always needs urgent medical supervision. Consult with your physician if you take higher doses or call any poison control centre right away. 

    4Side-effects:

    Side-effects of janumet tablets may include stuffy or runny nose and sore throat, upper respiratory infection, low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) when used in combination with certain medications, such as a sulfonylurea or insulin, upset stomach, weakness, nausea and vomiting, headache.

Janumet tablets may interact with various drugs and lead to moderate to severe interactions. It may also interact with some disease conditions like pancreatitis, lactic acidosis, cardiovascular risk, renal dysfunction, hypoglycemia and B12 deficiency. Describe your proper medical history to your physician to avoid any type of interaction. 

    6Precautions:

    • Avoid driving or any other work that needs alertness. 
    • Avoid alcohol. 
    • If you notice any hypersensitivity reaction to the Janumet tablet then inform your physician.
